Material Change is a fortnightly newsletter about things made out of (unlikely) other things.
I created Material Change because I wanted to learn more about waste-to-value projects and I was having trouble finding case studies across a variety of sectors. I wanted to read about wastewater engineers turning human waste into methane gas. I wanted to read about designers turning toxic waste sludge into coffee tables. I wanted to read about entrepreneurs turning spent orange rinds into biodegradable juice cups. But these kinds of stories always seemed to exist in silos - in this instance, on wastewater engineering blogs, furniture design magazines, and technology websites.
My hope is that in centralising and curating these kinds of stories, I can spread the idea that a change in materials can spark material changes.
